τσιμπ(ώ) (tsimp(ó)) + -άω (-áo). Inherited from Byzantine Greek τσιμπῶ (tsimpô), from earlier *τσιμπίζω (*tsimpízō) via its aorist forms *τσιμπισ- (*tsimpis-), itself from *ἐξεμπίζω (*exempízō), from ἐξ- (ex-) + Ancient Greek ἐμπ(ίς) f (emp(ís), mosquito) + -ίζω (-ízō).[1]
