[edit]Inherited from Prakrit [script needed] (saṇiccara), likely from Sanskrit शनैश्चर (†*śanaiścara-), see शनि (śani). Cognate with Punjabi چَھنِچَّھر (chanicchar) / ਛਨਿੱਛਰ (chanicchar) and Sindhi ڇَنْڇَرُ (čhančharu).
