Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tašak (testicle),[1] probably a dimunitive of *tiāĺ (stone); equivalent to طاش (taş, stone) +‎ ـاق (-ak, noun and adjective diminutive suffix). Cognate with Azerbaijani daşşaq, Crimean Tatar taşaq, Karachay-Balkar ташакъ (taşaq), Kazakh тасақ (tasaq), Kipchak طشاق and Kyrgyz ташак (taşak).
