[edit]Borrowed from Arabic مَجْنُون (majnūn). passive participle of passive verb جُنَّ (junna, “to be mad, insane, possessed”), based on the root ج ن ن (j n n) of جِنّ (jinn, “jinn, demon”). Doublet of জিন (jin).
