[edit]Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Kimbundu pambu la njila (“crossroads”). Compare Swahili njia panda (“crossroad”). The "r" instead of an "l" in "Gira" also happens in other languages. Such cognates include Kikuyu njĩra, Chichewa njira, and Mwani njira.
