comma

[edit]

According to Garner's

(3) hence, consequently; and (4) as an example. In senses 3 and 4, thus, when it begins a clause, should usually have a comma after it.

why does it state that should usually? In what cases it does not need a comma even beginning a clause? --Backinstadiums (talk) 17:35, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

4. for example

[edit]
Few of the nation's largest cities are state capitals; thus neither New York nor Chicago is the seat of its state's government.
