  1. (inorganic chemistry) AlH, formed when aluminium is heated at 1500°C in an atmosphere of hydrogen.
  2. (inorganic chemistry) (AlH3)n, can be prepared in ether solution by the reaction of aluminium chloride and lithium hydride; it is used to manufacture lithium aluminium hydride.
