  1. to anchor; be anchored; drop anchor (moor a ship using an anchor)
    La ŝiparo ankras apud la insulo.

  2. to anchor (secure firmly in position—literal and figurative senses)

Usage notes

It is not clear whether this verb is transitive (ankri la ŝipon) or intransitive (la ŝipo ankris). Both usages are found in the literature, and the PV/PIV have changed the definition back and forth over the years.
