From Latin anomalia, from Ancient Greek ἀνωμαλία (anōmalía, irregularity, anomaly), from ἀνώμαλος (anṓmalos, irregular, uneven), negating the meaning of ὁμαλός (homalós, even), from ὁμός (homós, same).
