heroic assumption (plural heroic assumptions)

  1. An assumption that the speaker considers very unlikely to be true but temporarily accepts in order to make a hypothetical argument.
    Even if we make the heroic assumption that the governor makes this his top priority, it isn't feasible to have new regulation in effect in six months.
