From Proto-Italic *linkʷō, from Proto-Indo-European *linékʷti ~ *linkʷénti, from the root *leykʷ-. Cognate to Sanskrit रिणक्ति (riṇákti), Ancient Greek λείπω (leípō). See also English loan, lend.
