Etymology[edit]
From βοηθόος, βοηθός (boēthós) < βοή f (boḗ, “shout”) + θόος (thóos, “quick”) from θέω (théō, “run”). As in the phrase ἐπί βοήν θέω (epí boḗn théō, “run to a cry for aid”). Similar sense at βοηδρομέω (boēdroméō).
