Cognate with Thai เป็ด (bpèt), Northern Thai ᨸᩮᩢ᩠ᨯ, Khün ᨸᩮ᩠ᨯ, Lao ເປັດ (pet), Isan เป็ด, ᦵᦔᧆ (ṗed), Shan ပဵတ်း (páet), Tai Nüa ᥙᥥᥖᥱ (pět), Ahom 𑜆𑜢𑜄𑜫 (pit), Zhuang bit, Nong Zhuang baet, byet, Zuojiang Zhuang bet, Bouyei bidt, Saek ปิ๊ด.
