Adonis belt (plural Adonis belts)

  1. (anatomy) The iliac furrows.
I have been working hard on my cardio routine to develop a very pronounced Adonis belt.
    • 2011, Michael Squire, The Art of the Body: Antiquity and Its Legacy[1], page 61:
aficionados (or at least the more aesthetically minded among them) sometimes refer to this as an 'Apollo's belt' or 'Adonis girdle' – a classic case of reality mirroring art, rather than the other way round.
