Etymology

From Middle English Cumbria, from Old English Cumbra (in the name Cumbraland), from Cumbric *Cumbri, from Proto-Brythonic *kömrüɣ, plural of *kömroɣ.[1] Doublet of Cumberland and Cambria. Cognate with Welsh Cymru.
