Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-European *ḱr̥h₂-nó-m, from *ḱerh₂- (“head, horn”). Cognate with Latin cornū, Sanskrit शृङ्ग (ṡṛṅga, “horn”), Old Church Slavonic сръна (srŭna, “roedeer”), Hittite [script needed] (surna, “horn”)[script needed].
