- As a German and Jewish surname, from the adjective Schick (“well-mannered, proper”) (see below). This is also borrowed into Czech as Šik, compare Sik.
- Also as a German surname, variant of Schiek, itself a variant of Schieck, from Middle High German schiec (“twisted, crooked”) (compare modern schief).
