Etymology[edit]
Pseudo-Latin from Latin serpēns (“snake”) + caput (“head”). As genitive is often mentioned Serpentis Capitis and as translation is mentioned Serpent's Head (rarely Head of the Snake).

- (astronomy) The western half of the northern constellation Serpens, said to resemble a snake. It is said to represent the head end of the snake.
