Etymology and scope of use

I don't recognise it as a British saying and I've only ever heard Americans use it. If it's American then it should be mentioned somewhere. 79.66.212.27 09:44, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Heard it often in British childhood, 1980s, usually as "I know you are, you said you are, so what am I then?" (sing-song voice). Equinox ◑ 12:25, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
