Synonyms?[edit]

AFAIK, armistice and ceasefire are no synonyms, but in fact two different concepts. An armistice is an agreement of the parties to stop fights in a war, whereas a ceasefire means just a temporary stoppage of an armed conflict for a certain purpose, e.g. rescueing of dead or injured soldiers, securing safe conduct of negotiators etc. A ceasefire may lead into an armistice, but they are not the same thing. Can anybody confirm this? --85.180.187.161 15:02, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Indeed they are different concepts, and Wikipedia confirms this. Will fix it now. ---> Tooironic 10:22, 2 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
