The spelling U:de:new spelling has been the prescribed spelling since one of the German spelling reforms.


This template is used on entries for spellings which have prescribed or optional spellings since a particular German spelling reform.

Parameters

  • |1= (required): date of the reform/amendment: 1894, 1902, 1938, 1955, 1996, 2004, 2006, 2011, or 2017
  • |2= (optional): the old form.
  • |optional=y: set if spelling is optional
  • |ss=y set to indicate that that the ⟨ss⟩ spellings were standard even before 1996 in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (for ⟨ss⟩ spellings which replaced ⟨ß⟩ spellings in 1996)
  • |unadapted_borrowing=y (optional): the old form is an unadapted borrowing and therefore possibly still valid in a German-speaking country where the form's source language is co-official.
