I'd say please use [[Category:xyz|{{ucfirst:{{BASEPAGENAME}}}}]] instead of [[Category:xyz|{{BASEPAGENAME}}]]

Link to language section

Currently this template doesn't link to the appropriate language section, even when lang= is provided. Could this be fixed please? —CodeCat 11:12, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

I agree this should be done. It seems it can be done by changing it to <span class='use-with-mention'>feminine form of <span class='mention'>{{l|{{{lang|}}}|{{{1}}}|{{{2|{{{1}}}}}}|sc={{{sc|}}}|tr={{{tr|}}}|gloss={{{gloss|}}}|g={{{g|}}}|g1={{{g1|}}}|g2={{{g2|}}}|g3={{{g3|}}}}}</span></span><noinclude>{{documentation}}</noinclude>, but someone should confirm that.​—msh210℠ (talk) 06:57, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

How about

{{form of|feminine form|{{{1}}}|{{#if:{{{2|}}}|{{{2}}}|{{{1}}}}}|lang={{{lang|}}}|sc={{{sc|}}}|tr={{{tr|}}}}}

? (As you know, I'm not exactly a fan of {{form of}}, but {{feminine of}} already has most of the same problems, so I don't think it'll make {{feminine of}} any worse.)
One difference between this approach and yours is that yours will show the transliteration in boldface, while this will not. On the other hand, your approach will support gloss and gender(s), while this one will not, but if we want that in {{feminine of}}, then it seems like we'd want it at {{form of}}, too.
