Etymology[edit]
From a³¹- + faʔ⁵⁵, in which the root faʔ⁵⁵ is from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *rwak (“leaf”). Cognate with Burmese အရွက် (a.rwak, “leaf”) and Japhug tɤjwaʁ. Compare Lhao Vo afo', Zaiwa ahaq, Longchuan Achang a³¹xʐoʔ⁵⁵ and Hpon ăʀùʔ.
