Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from English agnosticism, from a- + -gnozja + -yzm, from Ancient Greek γιγνώσκω (gignṓskō), coined by English biologist and anthropologist Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869. First attested in 1880.[1]
