From boos (evil) +‎ wicht (living being).

  • Hyphenation: boos‧wicht

Usage notes

[edit]

In Dutch, compound words normally always take the gender of the latter component of the compound. In this case, the latter component is wicht, a neuter word, which would render the compound neuter. However, due to the word being almost always used to refer to a male person, it takes the masculine gender.
