Etymology

From Greek παστρεύω (pastrévo), possibly through a Bulgarian intermediate пастря (pastrja). Compare Albanian pastroj, Aromanian pãstrescu, spãstrescu. An alternate theory deriving it from Latin *parsitāre is unlikely.[1]
