Etymology

From Classical Syriac ܐܝܠܘܠ (ˀīlūl), ultimately from Akkadian 𒌚𒆥 (ulūlu). Cognate with Hebrew אֱלוּל (ˀĕlul, Elul, the sixth month of the Hebrew lunisolar calendar).
